This past week, Columbia International College celebrated the diversity of our unique student body by hosting Diversity Week!
Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to explore different cultures and learn about the diverse background of their peers and friends. Exploring cultures and traditions that make each individual unique were highlighted as means to give students a deeper understanding of the principles of diversity.
Student Development prepared a number of great fun and interactive events and activities to showcase the diversity of Columbia’s student population:
April 7 – Diversity in Music Day
April 8 – Diversity in Food Day
April 9 – Diversity in Unity Day, International Fashion Show
April 10 – Diversity in Games Day
All activities took place at the beginning of third and fourth period in Ainsliewood’s Living Wall Lounge. The International Fashion Show was held in the Gym afterschool and featured traditional dress from over 20 countries.
Diversity week provides students with an educational learning experience that reinforces important character traits taught at Columbia such as respect, inclusiveness, and caring.
