Jan 26, 2016was an unforgettable day for Columbia International College students who participated in the basketball event at Canada Air Center in Toronto. They played basketball on the NBA court and watched a live game between the Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards.
It’s the third consecutive year that the CIC Student Development Office organized such a memorable event.
The varsity basketball team and female basketball club members played on the same court as NBA stars such as Kyle Lowry, Stephen Curry and Lebron James. They were thrilled to slam dunk, shoot 3 pointers, and used the NBA scoreboard with light up backboards!
“This is so much fun. I love it!” Said wingman Naka ShiShei during one of the games she played throughout the afternoon.
“Our team members have shown commitment to each other and worked extremely hard over the last semester.”Said Josh Bowley,Columbia’s Senior Activity Instructor.“They represent our school in tournaments in the community and win or lose they always conduct themselves with class.
After playing on the court, the students watched the Raptors play the Wizards. The game was very close for three quarters but the Raptors picked it up in the fourth quarter and won the beat the Wizards 106-89.
“What an amazing experience! I loved playing on the NBA court. The Raptors game was amazing.” Said Varsity Guard Hassan Manjang.
