We are halfway through winter break . CIC students in residences have had a lot of fun hanging out with friends and creating memories that can last a lifetime!
Scroll down to see a few snapshots of residence activities that turned the cold winter into a wonderful season of the year.
holiday community service project
Congratulations goes to the Residence Student Leaders, for their holiday community service project! With help from the student body, they were able to raise over $900 to purchase food, and hygiene products, for those in need.
Many people in our own community do not know where their next meal will come from. Community pantries are a great way to help combat food insecurity. Allowing community members 24/7 access. We were able to fill 3 different pantries! Thinking of holiday meals, or special treats that would not be common from a local food bank, the Residence Leaders chose each item with care. They also successfully balanced their budget!
One special highlight was actually meeting members of the community who access these services. It was a great lesson in service, and how good it feels to give back!
Gingerbread Making
As a classic Christmas traditions for many North American families, gingerbread making is also on top of the holiday celebration bucket list at CIC residence, a home away from home for students.
Christmas Carols for the Sisters
After many weeks practicing, CIC choir celebrated the holidays with the Sister’s of the Precious Blood. Christmas carols and holiday songs were sang with love.
Each sister and Father was also given their handmade personalized Christmas card created earlier this month!
This is our second year to visit the sisters and we look forward to continuing this tradition in the future!
Winter Hike
A few adventurers were taking a hike on Chedoke Radial Trail, enjoying the winter scenery and connecting with friends.
Sushi Making
House Parent William, who spent years living in Japan, was sharing his experience in preparing authentic sushi at the culinary corner of Pine Girls Residence.
Candy Cane Social
Candy cane social was a great opportunity to meet new friends, relax, and socialize.
Enjoy a local holiday tradition, with hot chocolate, and apple cider, with an iconic peppermint twist!
Ping Pong and Badminton
There’re many ways to stay active and keep a balanced lifestyle during holiday. Congratulations goes to Qi Shu and Yanqi Pan, our reigning Ping Pong and Badminton champions of Pine Boys!
Holiday Crafts
Get in the festive spirits! For the second year, students had the opportunity to make Christmas crafts and Christmas Card’s to share with the Sisters at Northcliffe!
Paint Night

Bakery Workshop
Local business owner, and former CIC alum, Mrs. Jia-hosted a workshop in Residence. Where students were able to ask questions, and enjoy learning all about their popular menu item of mochi donuts! Students were able to enjoy the hands-on experience, and interact with Jia.
It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the art of baking, and entrepreneurship in Hamilton. A special thank you to My Sweet Tooth and Momoco Donuts for your excellent workshop! We can’t wait to have them back!
